the need for the

christian emergency league

  • The Christian Emergency League recognizes the continued movement of our nation away from personal responsibility and freedom to increasing tyranny and lawless behavior.
  • The CEL gives thanks for organizations that are calling attention to the many problems we are facing and for encouraging Christians to be interested and active in exercising faith beyond the walls of their homes and churches. We will seek to work with these organizations where possible.
  • The CEL stands apart from other Christian and conservative organizations in recognizing that we must identify clearly our belief in the one and only true God and salvation by grace through faith alone. Our strength and power do not come from numbers but through God alone.
  • The CEL stands apart from other Christian organizations in that the core of our organizations will be Pastors.
  • The CEL will call for Pastors, local churches, and individual Christians to unite together in speaking the truth of God to civil rulers in calling them to recognize that they will have to give account to the Lord Jesus Christ.

core beliefs

  • The Christian Emergency League is a Christian Organization who believes in the only true God. In the unity of the Godhead there are three Persons – God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:18-20). The ultimate goal of this organization is to bring glory to the name of Jesus Christ and to seek first His kingdom. (Matthew 6:33)
  • The Christian Emergency League (referred to now on as CEL) believes that there is one mediator between God and men, the Man Jesus Christ. Thus, we cannot pray to any except this mediator. (1 Timothy 2:5)

  • The CEL believes that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Grace by definition must not include any works when referring to justification before a holy God. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
  • The CEL believes that true Christians must be consistent in their faith be it Sunday at church or Tuesday in the voting booth. (Matthew 5:48)
  • The CEL recognizes that Christians are to be peaceful citizens (1 Timothy 2:2) but that we cannot be content to be silent citizens. Jesus Christ calls us to be salt and light in the midst of a decaying and dark nation. (Matthew 5:13-16)
  • The CEL believes that the Bible is the infallible and inspired Word of God. Therefore it provides the ultimate standard for the laws and norms a state and nation must follow. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
  • The CEL recognizes that God that all authority comes from God. Civil rulers are not free to do whatever they determine or the electorate wants but are bound to follow what God has revealed as ministers of God. (Romans 13:1-7)
